Targeted regulations designed to force abortion providers to close approved by Board of Health
In their vote on Friday, April 12, the Virginia Board of Health voted 11-2 to give final approval to targeted regulations on abortion providers that include hospital-style structural requirements not imposed on other outpatient health care facilities. Read our statement.
General Assembly approves McDonnell's abortion coverage ban
On April 3, the House of Delegates and state Senate both voted to approve Governor Bob McDonnell's amendment to ban private insurance plans being offered in Virginia through the new health benefits exchange from including coverage for abortion care -- even if the plan is being purchased with private dollars.
