Over the past two years, we’ve seen a full-scale legislative assault on women’s rights and health – at the federal level, in states across the country, and right here in Virginia. Anti-choice politicians are scrambling to capitalize on their recent electoral gains and passing unprecedented, egregious new laws that restrict our rights and increase government interference in women's private, personal medical decisions. In Virginia, some of these anti-choice laws have passed by as little as one vote in the General Assembly. Anti-choice control over the House of Delegates, the state Senate, and the offices of Governor and Lt. Governor continue to put reproductive freedom in jeopardy in our state.
It’s proof positive that elections matter. Increasing pro-choice representation in the future is essential to turning the tide -- defeating anti-choice attacks on reproductive freedom and passing pro-active legislation that expands access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare and quality sex education. We must show legislators that voters will hold them accountable for attacking access to basic reproductive options and health care and supporting policies that don't respect women's choices.
Virginia's statewide elections in November 2013 (when the offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and House of Delegates will all be up for a vote), will be a deciding moment for the course of reproductive rights in Virginia. The NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia PAC is getting ready now, identifying the races that will be critical in 2013, researching the candidates and districts, and preparing our election plan to get out the pro-choice vote to protect and elect candidates that share our values and will respect reproductive freedom.

The NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia Political Action Committee (PAC) directly supports 100% pro-choice candidates for statewide office and General Assembly in Virginia. Our PAC researches, interviews and endorses candidates. We educate voters on a candidate's position on choice before and after she or he becomes an elected representative. We make financial contributions to key pro-choice candidates and engage in voter contact during election cycles to get out the pro-choice vote and help create a pro-choice majority in Richmond. With NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia's experience on the ground in Richmond advocating for pro-choice policies and against anti-choice attacks, we understand the importance of pro-choice legislators and work strategically to protect and elect the lawmakers we need most to make a difference.
Donate to support the NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia PAC and invest in a pro-choice future for the Commonwealth!
Your contribution will enable us to make strategic financial and in-kind contributions to pro-choice candidates, as well as conduct our own grassroots election work to educate voters about candidates and get out the pro-choice vote.
