NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland and NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia are meeting in the middle (Washington, DC, of course!) on August 5th to support our work for reproductive rights at the state level in our region.
We are state affiliate organizations of NARAL Pro-Choice America and the voice of pro-choice citizens to our state-level policymakers. We work in Annapolis and Richmond to stand up for pro-active pro-choice policies, fight back against mounting legislative attacks on reproductive rights, and elect more pro-choice state policymakers.
Come join us to learn about what's happening and how you can get involved to support this important state-level work. Plus, have a great time doing it as you meet and mingle with fellow pro-choicers from DC, MD & VA!

2015 Leadership & Advocacy Summits:
Women of Color, Reproductive Justice, and Choice

Saturday, September 12
George Mason University, Fairfax Campus
 Saturday, September 19
Tidewater Community College, Norfolk Campus

Women of color are disproportionally impacted by anti-abortion, anti-women policies at both the state and national level, and yet women of color have historically been left out, ignored, or under-represented in the reproductive rights movement.

NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia is committed to changing this. Thatís why our 2nd Annual Leadership & Advocacy Summits will explore the unique experience of women of color in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia and discuss the intersecting barriers women of color face in accessing health care, building their families, and living dignified, self-determined lives.

Each Summit features:

  • Overview of reproductive rights, health, and justice issues and their current status in Virginia.
  • Panel discussions and presentations by local pro-choice heroes, activists and experts.
  • Exploration of the intersections of diversity, self-determination and empowerment, income inequality, access to healthcare, and other intersections.
  • Specialized breakout sessions for women of color and for allies.
  • Skills-training sessions on advocacy, education, and outreach.
  • Networking time for attendees to speak with NPCV staff, Summit presenters, and each other.

Learn more about the 2015 Leadership & Advocacy Summits or contact Nicole Grim at for more information. Applications are due Monday, August 24. We can't wait to see you there!
