Sex Education
The youth of Virginia deserve the skills and resources to help them make lifelong health decisions. 
That is why NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia Foundation launched our SEdA NOW! project.
SEdA Now! stands for Sexual Education Awareness Now! and works to promote healthy decision making for our state's young people.
We launched the first phase of our project in Petersburg, Va. Our mission is to continue combating the alarming rate of teenage pregnancies, school dropouts and rapid spread of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in Petersburg. Our ultimate goal is age-appropriate comprehensive sex education in all Petersburg schools. To achieve the ultimate goal, are working in the community to do the following:
- Organize a Coalition of parents, educators, youth, school officials, local and state elected officials, community leaders and faith leaders.
- Create a Youth Advisory Council of area youth to be role models for their peers and advocates for sex education.
- Implement a grassroots, community campaign for comprehensive sex education.
Our grassroots organizer is on the ground, working to spread the word about the need for comprehensive, sex education that works for the youth of Petersburg.
