M's Story
I was 18, locked in an apartment and raped. I became pregnant. It was before "Roe vs. Wade". So, after speaking with two women who had used this technique, I decided to go to a big city and have a contraceptive coil inserted. A week later I started to violently miscarry. Something was wrong, but there was no one around and I was in a dorm room at college. Finally, hearing my screams, someone did come into my room, called the rescue squad, and I was saved from a ruptured cervix and hemorrhage.
If I had had the option for a legal abortion, I certainly would have taken it! Also, without going through the re-rape of a court trial.
