Anti-Choice "TRAP"

When Gov. McDonnell signed S.B. 924 into law, he reclassified women's health centers in Virginia as hospitals, subjecting them to new burdensome regulations which will be created by the Department of Health.

And now the governor has imposed an "emergency” regulatory process to create the new rules; a process which will limit time for deliberation and public input.

Here is how you can help NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia and the Virginia Coalition to Protect Women's Health get the word out about this issue:

• Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper speaking out about how new regulations could undermine women's health.
• Educate your friends, family, classmates and colleagues about this issue. Utilize your blogs and social networks spread this email far and wide.
• Visit our website to keep up with the latest ways to get involved and important dates regarding new abortion regulations.

Because of the rapid nature of this process, we need pro-choice activists like you to help us educate Virginians about the regulatory process and the impact that new medically unnecessary regulations on abortion providers could have on women's access to health care.

These politically motivated laws, called "TRAP laws,” (Targeted Regulations of Abortion Providers), single out doctors that provide abortion care. TRAP laws have nothing to do with promoting the safe delivery of health care for women and everything to do with restricting Virginians' access to safe, legal abortion.

We can't allow this insidious strategy to succeed in attacking women's rights and health in the Commonwealth.
