Anti-Choice "TRAP"

Proposed targeted regulations on abortion providers (TRAP) in Virginia would be the most onerous in the country. They could force women's health centers to close and serve as a backdoor ban on choice.

Things You Can Do

Ways You Can Support Reproductive Choice in Virginia

  1. Join our Choice Action Network (CAN) list to receive regular updates on reproductive health issues in Virginia via email, and become our fan on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

  2. Make a contribution to NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia to invest in the pro-choice movement in the commonwealth.

  3. Volunteer for NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia.

  4. Join our League of Young Leaders (LoYL) group if you are a pro-choice young professional! Become a fan of us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

  5. Register to vote and vote pro-choice. For more information on your Virginia legislator, click here.

  6. Tell your legislator to vote against anti-choice bills and vote for bills that improve access to contraceptive coverage and reproductive health services. To find your legislator, click here.

  7. Write a letter to the editor urging pro-choice people in your community to support every woman’s reproductive rights. Tips on Writing a Letter to the Editor.

  8. Host a house party for NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia or plan a pro-choice event or rally.

  9. Learn the difference between mifepristone/medical abortion (also known as RU-486) and emergency contraception (also known as the "morning-after pill" and by brand name "Plan B") -- and educate others.

  10. Put a pro-choice bumper sticker on your car or in the window of your house.

  11. Wear a pro-choice button or t-shirt. (Ask us about where you can get one.)

  12. Donate to an abortion fund to help low-income women pay for abortion services.

  13. Become a membership captain. Distribute NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia membership brochures to your neighbors or co-workers and encourage them to become members!

  14. Become a pro-choice escort at a local reproductive health clinic.

  15. Go to a pro-choice rally or demonstration.

  16. Ask your clergyperson or other religious leader about your place of worship’s position on choice.

  17. Ask your local school board members or principal whether the schools in your area teach comprehensive, medically-accurate sex education.

  18. Run for office on a pro-choice platform.

  19. Announce a pro-choice event in your classes, workplace, or place or worship. Then attend and bring a friend who would not normally attend.

  20. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if s/he offers emergency contraception. If not, recommend that s/he call 1-888-NOT2LATE for information on how to start.

  21. Tell four friends about the threats facing reproductive rights and reproductive healthcare access across the country and in Virginia. Then bring them to a NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia event!
