2017 General Assembly Scorecard

Take Action! Send a message to your legislators about their voting record this year using our easy online form.
NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia is proud to release our 2016-2017 Virginia Legislative Voting Record on Choice, your guide to Virginia lawmakers' votes related to reproductive rights and health care access during the 2017 General Assembly session and their records for the 2016-2017 term.

See below for a list of members of the House of Delegates and the state Senate with their 2017 session record. Each legislator is rated from a 0% (anti-choice) to a 100% (pro-choice) each session. Each legislator's 2017 session score was averaged with her or his previous 2016 score (where applicable) for a combined two-year score in our full scorecard.

By the Numbers:
  • Out of 140 total members of the General Assembly, 55 (20 Senators and 35 Delegates) received 100% pro-choice ratings in 2017 (a three-legislator increase from 2016).
  • In contrast, 78 members (14 Senators and 64 Delegates) earned a 50% or lower rating in 2017.
  • Only 52 out of 140 state legislators received 100% pro-choice scores in both 2016 and 2017.
