Take Charge of Your Health

NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia has compiled a resource guide to educate Virginians about the full range of healthcare services available for pregnancy prevention, abortion care, adoption assistance and parent support programs. We hope that this guide will help Virginians access the quality health care services that they need and deserve.

Take Charge of Your Health: Accessing the Full Range of Reproductive Health Services in Virginia

Section I: Preventing Pregnancy

Section II: Abortion Care

Section III: Choosing Adoption

Section IV: Parenting Resources

Do you need an abortion?

If you are pregnant and have decided you do not want to continue your pregnancy, you can call one of the clinics linked on the map below to inquire about an appointment. The clinics listed below provide medical and surgical abortions for the first trimester (up to 13 weeks and six days since your last menstrual period). Under Virginia law, you must first receive counseling and an ultrasound at least 24 hours prior to the procedure.

If you are under 18 and want to obtain an abortion, you need the consent of one parent or legal guardian. If you cannot notify your parent or legal guardian or cannot get their consent, you can apply for a judicial bypass. This is a signed order from a judge stating that you can get an abortion without parental involvement. Learn more here.

If you are worried about how to pay for your abortion, please refer to the list of financial assistance funds below.

If you have questions about abortion or about finding a provider near you, please call the National Abortion Federation Hotline at (877) 257-0012.
